1987-1989

I joined the Crossfire Band in late 1987. In the beginning the players were Bud Wyatt: lead guitar and vocals, Danny Sneed: pedal steel guitar, Larry Bailey: drums and vocals, and Dave Cash: bass guitar and vocals. We played in clubs all around the valley for a while. Then in 1988 Danny Sneed quit the band, and we hired Rick Lightowler on pedal steel guitar and banjo. Not long after that Bud Wyatt quit the band, and we hired some young kid named Devon Breshears to play lead guitar. At this point we were the house band at the Cheyenne Saloon in Phoenix, where we worked 5 nights a week. The last picture above is the band in our Cheyenne Saloon shirts. We also played Monday nights at Toolies Country, (the nightclub where Charlie Daniels filmed his video “What this world needs is a few more rednecks”) Then a few months later Dave Cash quit the band and we hired J.C. Culver to play bass guitar. Right after that we dis-banded. Devon Breshears went on the road, and Rick Lightoeler went on to other things. That is when J.C. and I started looking to put another band together, and J.C. introduced me to Michael Lewis…..The rest is history.
